Lawrence County Jail Mugshots Overview
The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office operates the Lawrence County Jail at 1525 Missouri Drive in Mt. Vernon. The official roster path separates current inmates from a 48-hour release list. The current roster displays public booking-photo thumbnails for many listed entries, with image alt text identifying the photo as a mugshot of the listed person. The list also shows the person's name, booking number, booking date and time, charges, bond information, and a "View Profile" link.
The roster chooser carries an important disclaimer. It says information is collected, maintained, and provided for convenience, and that the Detention Center cannot certify accuracy or authenticity. That caution applies to mugshots as well as charges, bond lines, and dates. Treat the booking photo as a roster field tied to a custody entry, not as proof of guilt or a final court outcome.
Local research did not verify a separate daily booking-photo gallery, historical mugshot archive, or app-only photo database. The sheriff's website has a Most Wanted navigation item, but a verified sample was not captured for this build. The confirmed places to start are the current roster and the 48-hour release path, followed by direct sheriff records contact when the photo is no longer visible online.
Where to Find Lawrence County Booking Photos
Use the official roster tools before making a records request. The roster chooser offers Current Inmates and 48 Hour Release. The current roster covers active county jail custody. The release roster path is meant for people released from the Lawrence County Detention Center within the last 48 hours.
- Open the Lawrence County roster chooser and select Current Inmates for active custody.
- Use the Search By Name field if the roster list is long, or use Show All to clear a search.
- Review the visible thumbnail beside the name, booking number, booking date, charges, bond, and profile link.
- Open the profile link when available, but do not assume it contains additional photos unless the entry itself shows them.
- If the person was recently released, check the 48-hour release roster.
- If the photo is not posted or has dropped from the roster, call 417-466-2131 or make a Missouri Sunshine Law request to the sheriff's records custodian.
The current inmate roster is the confirmed public source for Lawrence County booking-photo thumbnails.
The roster image illustrates the photo field in context. The booking photo is one part of a larger custody listing, so charge status and case outcomes still need court-record confirmation.
Roster Field Inventory With Mugshot Photo
The public roster field inventory is specific and limited. The research captured the list view and visible profile links, but a profile-page fetch timed out. For that reason, this page does not claim housing units, physical descriptors, court dates, date of birth, warrant numbers, or multiple photo angles unless a specific roster entry displays them.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Mugshot | Booking-photo thumbnail appears beside many roster records while the entry is listed publicly. |
| Name | Full name in LAST, FIRST format, shown in all caps in observed entries. |
| Booking # | Numeric local booking identifier assigned to the custody event. |
| Booking Date | Date and time of booking, such as MM-DD-YYYY followed by hour and minute. |
| Charges | Plain-text charge descriptions listed at booking; these may differ from prosecutor-filed court charges. |
| Bond | Dollar amount, "DENIED BOND," or similar release-condition text depending on the entry. |
| Profile Link | "View Profile" link for the individual roster entry. Additional fields were not verified in this research pass. |
| Roster Status | Current or Released tab determines whether the person is actively held or recently released. |
An observed roster example from June 20, 2026 showed a June 19, 2026 booking with a booking number, charge text, and a $650 bond line. Other observed records showed "DENIED BOND" and other dollar amounts. Those examples confirm the field layout, but they should not be reused as a current custody statement because the roster changes.
Current Roster vs 48-Hour Release Photos
The current roster covers people currently held at the Lawrence County Detention Center. The 48-hour release path covers people released from that detention center within the last 48 hours. The research confirmed that the release path exists, but image behavior must be checked entry by entry. Do not assume a booking photo will remain visible after the release window or that a released person's photo is kept in a permanent public gallery.
The 48-hour release roster is the official recent-release fallback after a name no longer appears under current inmates.
The release roster is useful when a booking has just ended, but the sheriff's site does not describe it as a long-term mugshot archive. For older booking-photo access, use the records-request fallback.
Missouri Law for Lawrence County Jail Mugshots
Missouri law does not create a simple rule that every booking photo is always public in every setting. The better local conclusion is narrower: Lawrence County publicly posts booking-photo thumbnails as part of its current inmate roster, and records requests for nonposted photos fall under Missouri Sunshine Law and law-enforcement-record rules.
Missouri law callout: RSMo 610.011 states Missouri's public policy that governmental records are open unless a law says otherwise. RSMo 610.100 defines arrest and incident reports and governs law-enforcement-record access and closure. RSMo 610.023 requires public-record custodians to act on requests as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day after receiving the request unless they explain a delay.
Copy costs may also matter. RSMo 610.026 covers public-record copy fees and allows certain staff and research costs. The sheriff's FAQ separately says report copies may be available within two business days, but only to the person who made the report and with valid picture ID. That FAQ rule is about report copies, not a published mugshot-request form, so a booking-photo request should be framed clearly and routed to the sheriff's records custodian.
What Is and Is Not Public on the Mugshot Roster
What is and isn't public: The public roster shows mugshot thumbnails, names, booking numbers, booking dates, charges, bonds, and profile links for listed entries. The research did not verify public housing location, date of birth, full physical descriptors, arresting officer, court date, multiple booking-photo angles, or a historical photo archive. Closed, sealed, expunged, safety-sensitive, or otherwise restricted records may not be released through the same public channel.
Public does not mean permanent, complete, certified, or current to the minute. The roster disclaimer says accuracy and authenticity are not certified. If an employer, landlord, insurer, creditor, licensing body, or other decision-maker needs lawful screening information, the roster is not the right tool and FCRA-regulated processes may apply. For court disposition, use Case.net and the Lawrence County Circuit Clerk rather than relying on a booking photo or charge label.
How to Find or Request a Lawrence County Booking Photo
Use a graduated approach. The easiest source is the current roster. The next source is the 48-hour release list. After that, the practical fallback is the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, because the sheriff operates the jail and maintains law-enforcement records. The office address is 1525 Missouri Drive, Mt. Vernon, MO 65712. The 24-hour phone number listed by the sheriff is 417-466-2131, and public office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Check the current roster by name and confirm the entry is for the correct person.
- Check the 48-hour release roster if the person is no longer in active custody.
- Record the booking number, booking date, full name, and any visible charge or bond line before contacting records staff.
- Call 417-466-2131 or visit the sheriff's office during posted business hours to ask how the custodian accepts Sunshine Law requests for a booking photo.
- Keep the request narrow: identify the booking photo, booking date, name, and booking number if known.
- Ask whether the record is open, closed, sealed, expunged, part of an active investigation, or subject to another restriction.
- Ask for any fee estimate before copies are prepared.
The sheriff website does not publish a dedicated mugshot request form or a separate booking-photo records email. The general contact form warns that email is not monitored 24/7 and should not be used for urgent or sensitive personal information. For time-sensitive custody, release, or safety questions, call the office instead of using the form.
Mugshot Removal, Expungement, and Closed Records
Lawrence County research did not identify a local "remove my mugshot" form. The records-clearing path is legal rather than cosmetic. Missouri's expungement statute, RSMo 610.140, creates a process for eligible criminal records. Other closure rules may apply to juvenile matters, sealed cases, active investigations, or records made confidential by law. If a record is expunged, sealed, or otherwise legally closed, ask the sheriff or court clerk how the order affects public roster and copy access.
A dismissal also needs careful reading. Dismissal of a charge does not automatically prove that every law-enforcement record, booking photo, court entry, or archived copy has been sealed or expunged. The court order and applicable Missouri law control. For the charge and case side, review court records after jail arrest and confirm any disposition through the Circuit Clerk or Case.net.
State and Federal Booking Photos Are Different
Lawrence County Jail mugshots are county jail roster material. They should not be confused with Missouri Department of Corrections, federal Bureau of Prisons, U.S. Marshals, or ICE custody records. The Missouri DOC Offender Web Search covers active offenders, including probationers and parolees, and aliases, but it excludes discharged offenders and may omit some records for safety, security, or confidentiality reasons. It is a statewide custody and supervision locator, not the Lawrence County jail roster.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator identifies federal inmates from 1982 to present, but it does not operate as a county booking-photo gallery. ICE's Online Detainee Locator covers people in current ICE custody or CBP custody more than 48 hours and uses A-number or biographical search paths. No federal BOP facility or ICE detention facility was identified inside Lawrence County in the official locator sources reviewed for this project.
